The 2022 Emmy Awards’ Best Hair, Makeup, and Nails

On September 12, the 2022 Emmy Awards got underway with a boom, as the stars dressed to the nines for the celebration of all things TV, from prime time to streaming. Euphoria, The White Lotus, Succession, and Abbott Elementary all received several nominations, making it an incredible year for nominations. The actors more than lived up to expectations with their red carpet attire.

Celebrities and nominees arrived to the ceremony in 2022 with the most glitzy hairdos and dramatic makeup looks, exactly as on our favorite television series. The outfits worn by our favorite celebrities provided plenty of inspiration for Holiday parties, weddings, date nights, and hours on the sofa alike, even though we may be watching from the other side of the television and not there on the red carpet.

To create your next major beauty moment, go no farther than the top hair, makeup, and manicure moments from the 2022 Emmy Awards.

James looked stunning in a golden Atelier Versace draped goddess gown. She was nominated for her groundbreaking performance as Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy. Along with dazzling bronze eyes, brushed-up brows, a neutral brown lip, and a brown manicure, the actor carried the bronze theme throughout the remainder of her appearance.

James and her team employed Charlotte Tilbury products, such as the Daily Glow Niacinamide Toner, Magic Cream Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer, Airbrush Finish Brightening Powder, and Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer, to achieve the dazzling appearance.

Issa Rae

Issa Rae(also nominated), looked great in a graphic black and white dress and an auburn haircut with a blunt cut. Not to mention her gorgeous skin, we also adored her flirtatious cat eye and similarly rich lashes.

“For this year’s Emmys, I pulled inspiration from Issa’s Sergio Hudson gown,” said makeup artist Joanna Simkin. “The color and fit of the dress immediately took me to a place of beauty and strength. A simple black eyeliner from e.l.f. and immaculately glowing skin complemented the look perfectly. Issa’s skin is always the focus of our looks. Lancer Skincare’s products enabled me to enhance her glow to its fullest.”

Amanda Seyfried

The Dropout character’s messy hair, liner, and red lips were replaced with a chic center-parted chignon, light pink eyeshadow, and a lovely raspberry pink lip, all done by makeup artist Genevieve Herr, on the actor. As she glided down the red carpet, Seyfried’s Armani Privé gown gave her a stunning mermaid-like allure.

Zendaya

In a strapless black Valentino gown, diamond earrings, loose waves, and a choker, the Euphoria star gave up absolute sophistication with a smile. A black satin ribbon was used to tie her hair back from her face, and the head of her hair was teased for retro-inspired volume. She had brushed-up fluffy brows, luminous complexion, a peach glossy lip, and rich yet delicate lashes. The actor’s makeup was similarly classic.

Zendaya’s hair was styled by Tony Medina, who drew influence from Grace Kelly. He used Tangle Teezer and Aunt Jackie’s products to create the voluminous appearance. For more oomph, Medina used Medium Auburn Brown Hidden Crown clip-in extensions. She then used Aunt Jackie’s Frizz Proof Anti-Poof Twist & Curl Setting Mousse to reduce frizz. Shine Boss by Aunt Jackie’s added a little of sheen to the finished style.

Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya’s co-star on Euphoria and another nominee, also wore her hair in waves for the event, but she chose to wear her waves in a center part, collarbone-brushing manner, and with free bends. Sweeney opted for a straightforward makeup look with fluttery lashes, softly flushed cheeks, and rose pink lips, letting her embroidered silver Oscar de la Renta gown take center stage. Simple but beautiful.

Sweeney’s loose waves were created by stylist Glen Oropeza using the Shark FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System after prepping hair with Nexxus Weightless Style Smooth Full & Blow Dry Balm Volumizing Hair Cream. The hair was then given bends and curls by Oropeza.

Quinta Brunson

Quinta Brunson, the creator and star of the television series Abbott Elementary, dazzled in a custom-made bronze sequined strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown with transparent opera length gloves and a high slit. The numerously nominated actress styled her hair in gleaming traditional Hollywood waves. She prepared her skin with OLAY products, including Vitamin C + Peptide 24 Serum on her face and Body Milk Lotion on her body, and then created her luminous golden makeup look with a combination of Westman Atelier, Fenty Beauty, Danessa Myricks Beauty, and Uoma Beauty products. Renée Loiz, Brunson’s makeup artist, created a base with Mented Cosmetics Lip Liner in Bare and added a splash of plum color with Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm in Garconne on top.

The White Lotus actress dazzled in an elegant Dior dress dripping in pearls and she wore Dior Beauty for the big event. The star kept the rest of her cosmetics basic and chic while wearing her black hair in a sleek haircut with a deep side split. For the ultimate statement, she added a bold crimson red Dior lip.

Julia Garner

Garner, the actress of Ozark and recipient of the award for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, looked stunning in her custom Gucci gown, with her trademark blonde locks in place as always. Her messy cropped curls were created by stylist Bobby Eliot using Stephen Knoll New York products as well as ghd’s Creative Curl Wand and Skinny Curling Wand. The actor chose a bronze eye, pink cheeks, and brows that were well combed up. For a subtle pop, Lashify Gossamer lashes in B8 and B10 were utilized by Garner’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo.

Marc Indelicato

The Hacks actor made a major impression on the red carpet with his brilliant new hair color, a spectacular blazing red. With slicked-down hair fashioned in a deep side split and the ideal tiny curl over one eye, Indelicato aimed for a vintage Hollywood glam look with a modern touch.

Natasha Rothwell

Natasha Rothwell, actress of The White Lotus, radiated positivity in her raspberry red gown with puffed sleeves and a deep V-neck. She kept her makeup simple and shining with accentuated cheeks, a wash of shimmering taupe shadow, and long fluttery lashes. She wore her passion twist hairdo in a side-swept updo flowing over one side of her face.

Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh, who plays Killing Eve, rocked a stylishly undone wavy bob with curtain bangs on the red carpet, letting her natural waves take center stage. Oh offered out glam rock inspiration that we can’t wait to replicate with her vivid purple silk top, sparkly leggings, and jacket. Oh was painted with BOUNCE Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation and BOUNCE Magic Fit Creamy Bronzer & Highlighter Duo by makeup artist Emily Cheng.

Elle Fanning

Fanning, who starred in The Great, opted for a sweet blonde pageboy haircut that was curled up behind her ears to resemble a fake bob. She complemented her handmade Sharon Long strapless dress with a pink ruffled bodice and a strong black cat eye, which made the actor seem every bit the traditional Hollywood star. The ’50s elegance feel was enhanced by a big statement ring and a diamond pin.

Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox, wore a long-sleeved minidress with a cone bra bodice a la Madonna, looked like an icon of the 1980s. Cox maintained the retro vibes with her ponytail, putting her hair in a high pony that was extremely smooth and snatched and was secured with a leather band. She used a striking metallic green eyeshadow, contoured cheekbones, and a rose-colored lip to draw attention to her eyes in contrast to the all-black outfit. The dancing floor is not present.

Sarah Paulson

Paulson’s structured blue top and skirt gained a bit of contemporary edge thanks to her close-cropped pixie cut. The chameleon-like actor, who is known for her pixie cut, looked statuesque and chic with it when she wore it with perfect skin and a coral red lip.

Hannah Einbinder

In her strapless, handmade Rodarte emerald gown, the Hacks star aimed for classic glamour. She had light curls at the nape of her neck in her short strawberry blonde hair, which was pulled back from her face. Einbinder’s makeup included a peach lip, a flick of mascara, and accentuated peach cheeks, all of which made her appear lovely.

Jean Smart

The Hacks star donned an ivory portrait collar Christian Siriano gown that she was originally going to wear last year but changed her mind. Lucky for us, Smart managed to pull it off for the celebration in 2022. Her wavy golden blonde locks, pink cheeks, and matching rose-pink lips were elegantly framed by the off-the-shoulder dress. If we could have this look, we’d travel to Vegas.

Christina Ricci

Just before the event, Ricci had the major haircut courtesy to hairdresser Mark Hampton. For a 1920s-meets-2022 edge, the duo chose a flapper-style chin-length bob with thick brow-skimming bangs. Hampton used Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray and Spray de Mode from Bumble & bumble to style Ricci’s bob.

The Squid Game nominee wore her chin-length, curled-under bob behind her ears for an Audrey Hepburn-inspired gamine look, and it was sleek and sophisticated. A matching pink broach in her hair, rosy cheeks, and delicate, brow-brushing bangs all contributed to the girl’s adorable profile.

The kindergarten teacher at Abbott Elementary, who also happens to be an Emmy winner, added some glitz with a gem-encrusted braid that complemented her diamond choker and stud earrings. Along with her traditional smokey eye, dramatic lashes, and glossy lip, the actress added extra glitz by putting rhinestone jewels on her eyes.
