Zendaya Shines at the 2022 Emmys with a Stylish Black Gown and Diamonds

For the 2022 Emmys awards, Zedaya went full vintage.

It had a sweetheart neckline, a built-in belt with a bow in the front, and is a strapless black peplum gown by Valentino. She is adding even more panache to the look with a stunning diamond necklace from Bulgari and diamond stud earrings. The actress’s aesthetic is equally classic: her makeup is bronze and natural-looking, and her hair is styled in a chic, wavy bun tied together by a big black ribbon that matches her dress.

“I’m on my way🖤 Emmys 2022,” Zendaya captioned an Instagram post featuring a photo of her in the chic look, tagging her stylist, Law Roach.

The theatrical dress, created especially for the event by Valentino’s design director Pierpaolo Piccioli, had a form-fitting bodice with a delicate peplum accent and a sweeping full skirt that evoked cinema sirens from earlier eras.

The dress was inspired by outfits worn by Grace Kelly in her 1950s fashion icon peak as well as a look from Valentino’s autumn 1987 collection worn by none other than Linda Evangelista in a Steven Meisel advertisement, according to Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach, who spoke with Vogue.

To complete the look, Zendaya pulled her hair back with a sleek silk band. Her makeup was bronzy and natural, and she had sophisticated waves in her hair that were tied together by a huge black ribbon to match her dress.

In the categories of Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, the Euphoria actress is up for four Emmys tonight. According to Variety, she was the youngest two-time Emmy lead-acting nominee ever thanks to this year’s nominations. She is also the second Black person overall and the first Black woman to be nominated for acting and songwriting prizes in the same awards season. She is known for penning the songs “Elliot’s Song” and “I’m Tired,” both of which were featured in the popular HBO series.

Prior to this, Zendaya had already created history at the 2020 Emmys. She won The Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her portrayal of Rue in the television series Euphoria when she was 24 years old, making her the youngest recipient of the award.
