The 74th annual Emmy Awards took place this year during New York Fashion Week, and the red carpet outfits seemed like something front-row fashion editors would enjoy.
While there was the unique Louis Vuitton gown with the square-cut crop top you don’t typically see on the red carpet, there was also the standard floor-length Armani Privé Couture gown encrusted in pink rhinestones. In addition, garments by Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Christopher Kane made a presence. These dresses included eye-catching accents like diamond-shaped belly buttons, gold snake chains, and cone bras.
Zendaya in Valentino
Zendaya, who was styled by Law Roach, chose a black peplum Valentino gown with Bulgari diamond accents and a giant bow in her hair. She went for an Old Hollywood glamour, but in classic 2022 style, her Instagram post of it garnered 1.3 million likes in less than an hour.
Jasmin Savoy Brown in Christopher Kane
The Yellowjackets actress wore a cutaway dress from Christopher Kane’s fall 2022 line, with a gathered skirt hanging on gold snake chains.
Laverne Cox in Jean Paul Gaultier
Laverne Cox chose a dress from the autumn 2022 couture collection by Olivier Rousteing for Jean Paul Gaultier for her red carpet hosting gig. Cox’s outfit included a cone bra that unmistakably seemed like a homage to Madonna‘s legendary JPG ensemble from the first night of the 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. Rousteing’s most recent presentation was intended to be a love tribute to Jean Paul.
Hoyeon Jung in Louis Vuitton
Being the first non-English-language tv show to ever receive an Emmy nomination, the Squid Game actress is a part of Emmys history. Jung dressed in a geometric Louis Vuitton outfit and a flower hairpin on top of her bangs to commemorate the event at the awards night.
Lily James in Atelier Versace
The Pam & Tommy actress chose a Versace gown with a corseted bodice and flowing over the waist for her debut appearance at the Emmys.
Julia Garner in Gucci
The Ozark actress wore a floral-detailed velvet Gucci dress, leather platform shoes, and Swarovski Ortyx hoops to collect her Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Our favorite part of the dress? The diamond-shaped opening that exposed her belly button.
Kerry Washington in Elie Saab Couture
According to Kerry Washington, who was dressed in an asymmetrical white Elie Saab couture minidress with large flower appliqués, it’s 107 degrees in Los Angeles. Naturally, fashion also demands matching Christian Louboutin shoes and Bulgari diamond jewelry tonight, “For fashion, we’ll wear a black tight.”
Sarah Paulson in Louis Vuitton
Sarah Paulson, styled by Karla Welch wore handmade Louis Vuitton clothing. Her two-piece blue ensemble included a sculptural square crop top and a hanging studded belt similar to those shown at Nicolas Ghesquière’s resort 2023 presentation.
Lizzo in Custom Giambattista Valli
Lizzo’s tv show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls won the Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program. The singer has recently developed a red carpet hallmark for dresses with billowing sleeves and lengthy trains; she wore a similar design by Jean Paul Gaultier to the VMAs last month.
Amanda Seyfried in Armani Privé Couture
The rhinestone dress with a mesh element that coated her collarbones made her appear like a siren, and she told Laverne Cox on E! I’m a mermaid tonight.”
Amanda Seyfried, also won an Emmy for her part in The Dropout.
