Dakota and Elle Fanning made a rare appearance together to support their stylist- Samantha McMillen at The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo Power Stylists Dinner. In her early years, the Los Angeles-based stylist worked in public relations for Giorgio Armani and Richard Tyler before making the switch to style in 2001. Her client list includes several A-list celebrities, including Ryan Gosling, Brie Larson, Evan Rachel Wood, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Rock.
Dakota, showcasing her individual flair, donned a red cocktail dress from Loewe’s spring/summer 2023 collection. The dress featured the season’s insignia, a faux anthurium, distorted around the body with the stalk and head of the flower functioning as bra. Paired with strappy gold sandals and a gold-and-diamond ear huggie – this was just the perfect accessories to let the statement dress be the central focus. Stars like Zendaya, EmRata, and Adwoa Aboah have also been spotted with Loewe’s distinctive floral pattern.
Elle, 24, opted for a cropped pinstripe vest and accompanying low-rise pants from Stella McCartney’s fall 2023 collection, which debuted few weeks ago at Paris Fashion Week. She completed her look with gold Cartier jewelry, including a watch and three bracelets, and black platform heels.
For more than ten years, McMillen has collaborated with the sisters. After dressing Dakota in Louis Vuitton for the 2012 Met Gala, she began working on Elle’s press tour outfit six months later. Throughout the party, both sisters praised McMillen. “No one deserves this more than Samantha,” Elle told The Hollywood Reporter, referring to her placement on the list of the 25 most influential stylists. Dakota adding, “She’s someone who helps you to feel your best or however you want to feel in any particular moment. Stylists help you to feel comfortable in your own body; you’re very intimate with them because you’re naked half the time. It’s having someone who understands your personality, your body, and your vibe so much that it makes everything come to life in the best way possible.”
Other stylist honored include curators including Jennifer Austin, Molly Dickson, Law Roach, and Jason Bolden. With Jodie Turner-Smith, Megan Thee Stallion, Riley Keough, Jurnee Smollett, and their respective stylists also in attendance.
