Google searches for “coquette” have surged to an all-time high. But with the rise of the anti-coquette on the fall/winter 2024 catwalks by Dilara Findikoglu, Simone Rocha, and Prada, the overly feminine clichés of #coquettes have been repackaged as something to be feared rather than something dark, mysterious, and funereal.
The Only Murders in the Building star wore a dark-chic melancholic coquette ensemble on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She wore a sultry black lace mock neck top, layered over a matching Givenchy leotard, and a pleated Valentino skirt. She paired it with sheer black tights, a wide leather belt with a brassy gold buckle, slouchy Valentino boots and a small leather purse. Accesories included a stringy diamond drop earrings, gold and silver statement rings. She had her hair pulled up with a black ribbon, and her leather Valentino jacket revealed a massive rose appliqué.
This is departure from the stunning red-carpet sheer gown, a strapless mesh Oscar de la Renta gown covered in scarlet sequins in a floral pattern she wore to the 2024 Emmys. She paired it with a massive diamond necklace and ruby velvet heels, adding a touch of elegance to her outfit.
