The cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has routinely drawn attention during press conferences and red-carpet events up until this point, and Sunday night’s African premiere held in Lagos, Nigera was no different. Danai Gurira, who plays General Okoye in the Black Panther movie series, selected an outfit that fully represented the African culture.

The actress wore a  gold bustier top and ruffled midi pencil skirt from Christie Brown GH. Pairing the look with matching gele from Taiwo touch Danai looked ready to owambe.

In several regions of West Africa and Southern Africa, women frequently wear head ties/gele, which are textile head scarves. The head tie can be worn as a practical item in many contexts or as a decorative head covering or fashion piece. Depending on the wearer’s nation of origin and/or religion, it may have different uses or meanings.

On the beauty side, Danai got glammed up via graphic eyeliner, rosy blush, a glossy liliac lip (achieved by Tym Buacharern using Lip Liner- Nightmoth and Love Me Liquid Lipclour- Wakanda Forever from MAC Cosmetics)
