E! People’s Choice Awards dedicates category to African influencers

The 47th annual E! People’s Choice Awards are taking place in December, and has dedicated a category for African Influencers which includes: Lasizwe Dambuza (South Africa), make-up artist and beauty influencer, Mihlali Ndamase (South Africa), TikTok stars, Witney Ramabulana (South Africa) and Azziad Nasenya (Kenya), comedian, Madam Boss (Zimbabwe), Media Personality, Boity Thulo (South Africa) and Falz and The Odditty (Nigeria).

US TV channel E!, first dedicated a category in 2019 which featured artiste Cassper Nyoovest, Yemi Alade, Wizkid etc.

The Awards show released their 2021 list of nominations in 44 different categories on Wed., Oct. 27, honoring everyone from Justin Bieber and Dwayne Johnson to olympic champion Simone Biles and Prince Harry.

The Peoples Choice Awards (PCA) is literally the only awards show where winners are chosen entirely by fans and for the first time, PCAs will be broadcast on both E! and NBC, its sister network.

The Awards show released their list of nominations in 44 different categories on Wed., Oct. 27, honoring everyone from Justin Bieber and Dwayne Johnson to olympic champion Simone Biles and Prince Harry. According to Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Television & Streaming: “The People’s Choice Awards has always been about the fans, and this show quickly became a must-watch for audiences around the world on E! With our new structure, we now have the opportunity to extend that experience to NBC, bringing together the power of our portfolio to celebrate everyone’s favorite shows, artists and stars with our biggest broadcast yet,”.

The 2021 People’s Choice Awards will be held on Tues. Dec. 7 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Thulasizwe Siphiwe Dambuza, known professionally as Lasizwe, is a LGBTQ South African television personality, social media personality, radio host, comedian, actor and YouTuber. He became a local internet celebrity by uploading videos of himself interpreting how South Africans act on social media.

Mihlali Ndamase is a South African make-up artist and vlogger best known for her tutorials on makeups.

Witney Ramabulana, popularly known as witney8, is a South African model and social media influencer who first gained popularity through her @witney8 named TikTok handle, known for her lip-sync, dancing, and fashion videos.

Azziad Nasenya Wafula is a Kenyan actress, content creator, media host and social media personality. She is popularly known as Kenya’s TikTok Queen.

Madam Boss (Born Tarisai Cleopatra Chikocho) is a Zimbabwean comedy socialite, music artist and actress.

Boitumelo Thulo, popularly known as Boity, is a South African television personality, rapper, actress, businesswoman and model. In 2019, Thulo was named as one of Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 for her contribution in the music and entertainment sector.

Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter and actor who began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called “The School Boys” with his friend before his professional career as a music artist began in 2009

The Odditty  née Sofiyat Ibrahim may be most recognized for her infectious online personality, she created her platform as an outlet for her “weirdness,”.
