Taylor Swift Takes Carolyn Bessette Kennedy-Core For A Test Drive

Taylor Swift has long established a highly particular visual vocabulary: her constellation of preferred brands—Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Charlotte Simone, Free People—her enduring allegiance to knee-high boots and miniskirts, and, more recently, the constant presence of her Artifex Fine engagement ring from Travis Kelce.

Yet stepping out in New York on Wednesday evening (April 8), the singer joined the considerable ranks of young women currently channeling the codes of one Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Swift selected a black spaghetti-strap tank top from The Row—that modern purveyor of CBK-coded restraint—paired with an ivory silk maxi skirt from Meshki and a longline black blazer coat. The accessories: a Dior small 30 Montaigne Avenue top-handle bag, an Audry Rose pavé diamond lock necklace, and a diamond trail lariat from the same jewelry house. And, naturally, that old mine brilliant-cut diamond set in a hand-engraved yellow gold band. She was accompanied by Ashley Avignone and Jerrod Carmichael.

Her beauty execution hit all signature hallmarks—save the customary flash of bright red lipstick—with swooping bangs and a precise flick of eyeliner.

Her previous public appearance delivered another tried-and-true Swiftian formula. At the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, she collected seven new trophies and gave her ring its red-carpet debut, styled with a custom pistachio-green Wiederhoeft corset and miniskirt, Dena Kemp tourmaline earrings, rings by Selim Mouzannar and Ldezen, a Spinelli Kilcollin tennis bracelet, and Nak Armstrong ear cuff. Earlier sporadic outings—dinners at Bird Streets Club and Chez Margaux—have featured Louboutin knee-high boots, The Row sweaters, Louis Vuitton outerwear, and a rotation of Prada and Gucci bags.

This iteration, however, summoned the muted ’90s minimalism of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. (Might she and Kelce be as invested in Love Story as the rest of us?) The pared-back details and monochrome palette carried a distinctly bridal atmosphere—particularly significant as the couple approaches their rumored summer wedding date. With spring now in full assertion, perhaps subsequent evenings at Via Carota or Minetta Tavern will see her explore more of those easy, breezy CBK codes.

The test drive, at minimum, proved successful.
