After the exciting debut of Emily in Paris season four in the summer of 2024, Netflix has given the green light for a fifth season of the beloved romantic comedy series. Lily Collins, the star of the show, shared the thrilling news in a video announcement.
“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris,” showrunner Darren Star told Tudum.

The explosive conclusion of season four part two left fans on the edge of their seats as Emily made the bold decision to move to Rome to establish a new office for Agence Grateau, introducing her romantic relationship with Italian man Marcello Muratori, portrayed by Eugenio Franceschini. This unexpected twist sparked intense speculation about the future of Paris in the show. However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as creator Darren Star wasted no time in dispelling any rumors that France would be overshadowed by Italy in the upcoming season.
“Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” he said. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
Season five will delve into yet another intricate love triangle.
Although Gabriel professed his love to Emily at the end of season four, Collins warned that he would face consequences for leaving her on a mountain in Megève. “Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice,” Collins said. Meanwhile, Emily appears to be getting over it as she sparks with Marcello.
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said, per Tudum. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
