As Margot Robbie is currently promoting her new movie – Amsterdam, it is only natural that the consistently chic movie star teaches a master class in red carpet glamour at the same time. Robbie demonstrated that an exquisite black dress can be anything but boring for the London premiere of her mystery comedy.

The Oscar-nominated actor appeared on the red carpet with a dramatic cloak and a black cut-out dress. The Celine-created look is inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s classic Hollywood beauty and demonstrates that sometimes less really is more.

The actress joined other celebrities on the green carpet, including Christian Bale and Rami Malek and other cast members dressed uniformly in all-black ensembles, presumably enforcing a dress code for the big event, while flaunting her toned abs in an eye-catching gown and matching cloak.

Margot appeared to be honoring Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on Monday after a state funeral that was broadcast to millions of people worldwide, with her all-black ensemble.

The understated, traditional style is a fresh twist for Robbie. With paparazzi-captured on-set images of her flamboyant, technicolor ensembles as Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s next film, the internet has grown accustomed to — should we even say, obsessed — with them. Since the project’s filming was finished, Robbie has reverted to her trademark simple, timeless look, most recently sporting a striking, boxy, and smartly fitted suit. This garment has an otherworldly and Morticia Addams-like quality, but it doesn’t feel costume-like at all.

Additionally, Robbie’s black dress reflects a growing style among Hollywood’s leading females. Zendaya, the star of Euphoria, chose a voluminous, Grace Kelly-inspired Valentino black dress for her appearance at the Emmys this month. Similar to how Robbie’s clothing is currently trending on social media, the dress immediately gained popularity. Black is timeless, so it must be true.

A special mention goes to actor Rami Malek, who proved that James Bond is not the only person who can pull off an all-black suit.

The Mr. Robot actor was in excellent spirits as he made his nightly solo entrance, closely followed by Christian and his wife Sibi Blai. Sibi wore a form-fitting midi dress with sheer sleeves while Christian matched his co-stars’ attire with an all-black suit as they posed for the launch. Alongside David, the actor who played the Dark Knight in American Hustle produced Amsterdam. This is the third time the actor has worked with the acclaimed director after his roles in The Fighter and American Hustle (2013), both of which earned him an Oscar. In a gorgeous black gown covered in sequins, Andrea Riseborough cut a stunning figure that perfectly accentuated her alabastar skin tone.
