Celebrities don’t only get to serve looks on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. There are several paparazzi opportunities, such as press junkets and canal-side picture ops.
On September 5, Penélope Cruz disembarked her own speedboat while dressed entirely in Chanel. The actor wore platform shoes, aviator sunglasses, a waistcoat and jacket made of black and white bouclé tweed, and earrings with a large logo to create a young appearance. Cruz, who loves Chanel’s vintage quilted bags, wore a chic circular handbag with a chain strap for her time in the limelight.
Cruz has always been a Chanel ambassador since Karl Lagerfeld’s time there, thus she has made it a habit to represent the house. The actress opted for a patterned halter-neck dress from the Resort 2023 collection for the L’immensità photocall, and she chose a lace long-sleeved dress from Virginie Viard’s autumn/winter 2022 couture line for the movie’s premiere.
She graced the red carpet last year in an exquisite Chanel couture ensemble that took over 300 hours to make in the Parisian studio. It was constructed of black mikado and included an ecru silk tulle petticoat adorned with petal flounces. Cruz has praised the work of the petite-mains by saying, “I’ve been in the ateliers many times over the years, seeing all the women producing the gowns… they never leave the dress till it’s 100% right.”
