On Thursday evening at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Michelle Yeoh received her first honor of the year. The actress made a statement with her outfit as she attended the ceremony where she was presented with the International Star Award for her work in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Daniel Roseberry’s fall 2022 couture collection for Schiaparelli served as Yeoh’s outfit for her debut to the red carpet. An elaborate sequin and bead motif was embroidered on an orange velvet crop top with structured shoulders for the look. After that, a black center panel gave way to a blue satin skirt that was gathered into swirls and wrapped around the actress’ waist. Yeoh completed the ensemble with platform shoes and opaque black tights, appearing to forgo jewelry altogether in order to highlight the dress’s fine craftsmanship.
The event takes place a short time before the Golden Globe Awards, when Yeoh is up for a first-time nomination. It is anticipated that Yeoh will win the Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy on Tuesday night since the Globes divide their prizes into two categories: comedy/musical and drama. The actress is very certain to earn her first Oscar nomination after that, and even though the competition is fierce—Cate Blanchett, Michelle Williams, Viola Davis, and others are up for consideration—she is seen to be one of the front-runners. If she manages to win, she will be the first Asian woman to get the honor.
