This week in London, Kylie Jenner flaunted a look that is emblematic of her figure-hugging style. This wasn’t a typical decision for the star, even if it usually isn’t unusual. Jenner choose a look from the Comme des Garçons autumn/winter 2007 line. Two trompe l’oeil three-dimensional hands clasped over the chest and around the stomach, and a fuchsia top with black ostrich feathers added a cheeky and seductive touch to the ensemble. With the same hands on the hips that appeared to be wrapped around the body, Jenner also donned a black miniskirt. She held the little box bag in her hand.
Among the Kardashian-Jenners, Kylie is not the only one to wear something out of the ordinary. Kim Kardashian first made headlines in 2017 when she appeared in a curve-hugging skirt by Eckhaus Latta.
Jenner frequently sports vintage clothing, as shown in her appearances in a sultry Gucci dress from the Tom Ford era and a barely-there Versace halter top. But this CDG maneuver feels a little unique. Comme des Garçons is not a seductive brand in its pure, unadulterated form )Whether it is a commercial rendition from the collection or a reworked version of a pair of drop crotch pants that were displayed on the runway is not known).
The artworks are wearable sculptures that don’t normally display the human figure. And many of those ardent CDG supporters treat their clothing like little kids.
