Over the course of the year, Kendall Jenner has frequently worn Adidas’ retro-inspired Samba sneakers, wearing them with maxi skirts, straight-leg jeans, and workout attire. Jenner, however, went for the Nike Air VaporMax Plus to attend a Pilates class with her BFF Hailey Bieber this week.
The game-changing Air Max 1 debuted in 1987 and continued to rule the ’90s and ’00s with each successive edition. When Kendall’s black sneakers were originally released in 2017, they were the most recent model of that shoe. The first pair of sneakers with a sole made entirely of air bubbles was the VaporMax, which debuted 30 years after the Nike Air Max. Though practical as can be, Jenner’s Nikes are also a sneakerhead-approved heritage shoe, as her Sambas are. This fashion-conscious super will be all too aware of this fact.
She also added other throwback elements to her post-workout attire. Kendall wore a long-sleeved crop top – pulled up to show a matching sports bra below.
The whole outfit was a reminiscent of early Britney Spears, and Jessica Alba’s dance instructor outfit from the 2003 film Honey.
