Time after time the headscarf has proven itself to be a timeless accessory. Kendall Jenner who is in Paris looked so chic in the nostalgic accessory – a style so de rigueur to Audrey Hepburn.

The look of choice though, was from The Row’s spring/summer 2023 collection which included a black maxi with a deep scooping neckline. She complemented the look with timeless Breakfast at Tiffany’s accessories, including pointed court shoes, a sheer black scarf draped around her neck, and vintage black sunglasses.

Like other trends, the headscarf has a long and colorful history. Scarves first appeared in many ancient civilizations. According to legend, Queen Nefertiti wore a closely woven headscarf in 1350 BC Ancient Egypt to act as a barrier between her scalp and her jeweled headdress.

The headscarf became a status symbol of glamour in the 1920s and 1930s, with Rosie the Riveter in the ‘We Can Do It’ poster becoming an emblem of feminism and Audrey Hepburn wearing it on her wedding day to Andrea Dotti in 1969.
