Emily Ratajkowski is embracing single life with a complete feeling of freedom, weeks after divorcing her spouse of four years, Sebastian Bear-McClard.
The model and My Body author responded to writer Ciarra Jones’s TikTok video against sexism in relationships by posting a Stitch with Jones. Ratajkowski had a strong response to Jones’ statement that “Patriarchy does not give space for the existence of love” in her video.
“Okay, I love this video, even if I’m a little sick of the word patriarchy,” she says. “I love this video, because she’s making a point that (feminist author) bell hooks made, which is that under a patriarchy, there’s this premise of, like, men getting women, like getting them, pulling them, like they’re something to possess—which I feel, as a recently single person who’s thinking about dating and stuff, I’ve really seen that with my friends, and with the conversations kind of around it.”
Only a small group of their closest friends witnessed Ratajkowski and Bear-low-key McClard’s wedding ceremony at a courtroom in 2018. The couple welcomed their baby three years later, in March 2021, and separated this past July.
