Dua Lipa’s Scholary Style Is Deserving of Every Award

During her keynote address at the 2022 Booker Prize event this week, Dua Lipa highlighted that great books are what have sustained her throughout her Future Nostalgia world tour.

“Today, touring commitments take me all over the globe and life is often hectic. Sometimes, just to survive, I need to adopt a tough exterior. And at these times, it is books that soften me,” she told the audience at the event. “Good writing has the power to make people feel seen and heard, to tell stories that the world has ignored. We all just want to love and be loved and find our place in the world, and authors really help us to do that.”

Dua made damn sure the event was a fashionable as well as a scholarly moment by donning new-season Burberry. She wore a soft velvet off-the-shoulder dress from Riccardo Tisci’s final spring/summer 2023 collection along with delicate sheer gloves adorned with the Burberry Equestrian Knight motif to deliver her thoughtful speech at The Roundhouse, where The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka was announced as the winner of this year’s Booker Prize. The outfit was one of three opulent off-the-shoulder dresses that Tisci created for the house’s last presentation in London. The other two were worn by the designer’s frequent models Irina Shayk and Mariacarla Boscono.

Dua’s choice to promote a local label during the event was undoubtedly deliberate given that it was held in London.
