Last night at the BAFTAs, Cate Blanchett made a statement in sustainable dressing this time donning a Maison Margiela dress that she had previously worn at the Oscars in 2015. The actor donned a modified version of the original black gown, with the frayed detailing on the sleeves and hem being much more evident this time around. The actor received the Best Leading Actress award for her strong performance in Tár.
In terms of accessories, Blanchett highlighted how a tweak can swiftly modernize an outfit. In the past, the actor had worn the dress with a Tiffany & Co. statement turquoise necklace, but for this event, she opted for a Louis Vuitton necklace. It continued the environmental theme by including recycled Tahitian pearls and a tourmaline from an earlier design.
As a sign of her support for refugees and displaced people all across the world, she also included a blue ribbon from the UNHCR.
At the London Critics’ Circle film awards earlier this month, the Tár actor reprised a variety of looks, including an Alexander McQueen suit with stunning cobalt-blue sleeves.
