Again, Cate Blanchett promoted eco-friendly red carpet fashion at the SAG Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. The actor dressed in a sequined Armani Privé gown for the celebrity-studded occasion, which had reused lace on the neckline from a garment she had worn at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards and the Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
The intricately crafted dress’s most latest state features a black sequin bodice with a fitting skirt and sleeves that are cut in accordance with the lace pattern. The original version was made from sheer fabric and delicate lace with a high neck and cap sleeves. She chose a romantic, wavy long haircut and rose-colored makeup to balance the dress’ slightly edgier mood.
Before the show, her stylist Elizabeth Stewart shared a picture of the celebrity that also featured a picture of the original dress’s startling back. Captioning the post, “Who’s wearing a custom @GiorgioArmani dress with repurposed lace left over from a dress worn in 2014 and 2018? You guessed it: #CateBlanchett,”
It’s not the first time the actress has worn modified clothes on the red carpet. At the 2023 BAFTAs, Cate Blanchett made a statement in sustainable dressing this time donning a Maison Margiela dress that she had previously worn at the Oscars in 2015. Blanchett also revived a finely embroidered bodice from an old Alexander McQueen gown that she first wore at the 2016 BAFTAs at the Venice Film Festival in 2020; this time, she teamed it with black fitted trousers.
