Tyla Channels Aaliyah with a Stylish Blue Version of That Famous Animal Print Dress

Tyla channeled Aaliyah’s iconic style with a blue rendition of the Roberto Cavalli dress that Aaliyah rocked at the 2000 MTV VMAs.

Similar to Aaliyah’s yellow version 24 years ago, which the star wore with a classic strappy heel, red lipgloss, and white nail polish, Tyla paired hers with Paris Texas knee-high sandals.

The dress from the late designer’s 2000 collection boasts a bold zebra-like striped pattern, a slit up one leg, fur-like fringe along the hem, and a short train. Model Paloma Elsesser wore the original version in 2021, noting “the dress speaks to an era of cool regality that made the ’90s so iconic.” Meanwhile, influencer Britman Rock wore a similar dress to the 2021 MTV VMAs.
