Serena Williams proved once again that her influence extends far beyond the tennis court. Honored at the 2025 Princess of Asturias Awards in Oviedo, Spain, the 23-time Grand Slam champion received a standing ovation as she accepted the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, recognizing her extraordinary contribution to athletics and global impact on women in sports.

For the milestone occasion, Williams delivered a masterclass in red-carpet sophistication. She arrived in a sculptural ruby gown designed by Gaurav Gupta, featuring an asymmetric, one-shoulder neckline and fluid, architectural draping that created a sense of movement and strength. Styled by Kesha McLeod, the look was complemented with pointed red heels, a sleek wristwatch, and a single bracelet—minimalist touches that let the gown’s craftsmanship take center stage.
Her glam was equally striking. With Angela Meadows styling her blonde locks into soft, old-Hollywood curls and Pauline Briscoe giving her a radiant glow, Williams’ makeup featured a polished burgundy nail and fuchsia lip that deepened the monochrome palette. A small pin—bearing the foundation’s emblem—rested proudly on her gown, symbolizing her latest accolade.
“This award has been presented to so many remarkable individuals over the years, and to be recognized as part of that legacy is truly humbling,” Williams shared in an Instagram post thanking her supporters.
Founded in 1980, the Princess of Asturias Awards celebrate excellence in fields such as sports, literature, science, and the arts. Williams joins a distinguished list of past recipients—including Lindsey Vonn and Carolina Marín—cementing her place not only as a sporting icon but as an enduring symbol of resilience, excellence, and elegance.
