For as long as we can remember, Princess Kate has had a long-standing relationship with a few designer tailoring when it comes to royal events. This includes Catherine Walker, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, and most especially Sarah Burton, the Creative Director of Alexander McQueen.
However, for the Princess of Wales first Trooping the Colour ceremony since King Charles’s ascension to the throne and first since assuming her new title, she opted for a Singapore-born, Paris-based designer’s custom look. The look featured a long sleeved dress paired with a wide-brimmed Philip Treacy hat.
She complemented her look with Princess Diana’s old sapphire and diamond earrings and the exclusive gold shamrock brooch from the Irish Guards. The Cartier brooch is loaned out to royal women associated with the regiment, and has been worn by both the Queen Mother and Princess Anne. The green ensemble pays respect to the Welsh flag, while George, Charlotte, and Louis added red accents to round off the tribute..
While this is the first time Princess Kate has worn Andrew GN’s design, a quick search describes Andrew GN as a citizen of the world, reflected in his creations. He studied at Central Saint Martins in London and Domus Academy in Milan, and moved to Paris to work as an assistant to Mr. Emmanuel Ungaro. He then created his own house there, which has become an international brand sold by the best boutiques around the world.
