Princess Kate Brings Back Bow Trend with Candy Apple-Red Coat

The Princess of Wales, known for her wardrobe staples, recently wore an Alexander McQueen look for her annual Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, showcasing her ability to revive classic pieces.

Forever a McQueen lady, Kate shares a long history with the red double-breasted coat, which she wore in 2020. She paired it with black pumps from Gianvito Rossi, a casual white T-shirt, and a chic black turtleneck. Two months later, she reimagined the coat with a tartan skirt from Emilia Wickstead, a playful yet polished vibe. A matching scarf tied the look together. Then, in 2022, she resurrected the iconic coat once more, this time for the Rugby League World Cup.

This time, the Princess spiced up her coat with a bold black bow, matching it with the same tartan skirt peeking out beneath, and paired it with black suede heeled boots and gold drop earrings.

“This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,” Kensington Palace described in a statement shared last month. “The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”

The palace continued, “Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need—individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive. This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy.”
