Jennifer Lawrence, who’s expecting her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, has been gracing Hollywood events more than ever lately, packed with a maternity wardrobe setting a new standard for red carpet fashion. Recently, she wowed attendees at the Hollywood Reporter’s annual Women In Entertainment Gala held at The Beverly Hills Hotel in California.
She slipped into a black silk jersey column dress by Maria Grazia Chiuri Dior, featuring a wrap V neckline and short sleeves. The dress was cinched with a thin black leather belt, highlighting her growing baby bump before cascading intoa floor-length maxi-skirt. She paired the dress with pointed black pumps and large bulbous black earrings. She paired the dress with a chic black liner and a glossy pink lip. Lawrence’s blonde hair was styled in a wispy half-up, half-down ‘do with curled-in bangs for an ethereal glam look.
Lawrence, a long-time advocate for women’s rights, is promoting her Apple documentary, Bread & Roses, which explores the impact of the Taliban’s resurgence on women in Afghanistan. The film portrays the struggles of three Afghan women who are fighting for their fundamental freedoms and rights. “I just felt desperate to do something,” she told the BBC. “And cameras help with helplessness.”
She added, “It was important for us to get eyes inside Kabul because that’s exactly what the Taliban did not want. So when we reached out to Sahra, as we were already familiar with her work, we found that she was already collecting footage from girls on the ground in Kabul.”
Lawrence partnered with Malala Yousafzai, a renowned female education and women’s rights advocate, to produce the film. Their collaboration highlights the voices of women often marginalized and silenced in times of conflict. Bread & Roses premiered on November 22, marking an important moment in the ongoing conversation about women’s rights in Afghanistan and beyond. Lawrence aims to raise awareness and inspire action, encouraging audiences to engage with the issues and support initiatives promoting gender equality and empowerment.
