Ever since it was revealed that Halle Bailey was to take the role of Ariel in the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic — The Little Mermaid, the star had been giving subtle tributes here and there. But at the film’s world premiere at the Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, her marine style journey reached its zenith.
In a structured metallic blue Valdrin Sahiti gown that embodied mermaidcore, Bailey arrived at the much-anticipated event. The shimmering column dress had no straps and had a seashell-inspired sculptural neckline (which , a tapered waist, and an A-line skirt with a leg split in the back that showed off her silver strappy shoes. The showpiece item was complemented with elaborate diamond earrings, a scattering of silver rings, and long box braids with curled ends in Bailey’s hair. She finished off her glam with glossy lips, rhinestone- and pearl-encrusted ocean blue nails, and shimmery eyeshadow.
Aside from co-star Simone Ashley, who wore a hot pink Atelier Versace, the actor was accompanied by her elder sister Chlöe, with whom she sings as an eponymous pop R&B pair. Chlöe looked stunning in a custom sunshine-yellow Gert-Johan Coetzee gown.
