Angelina Jolie embodies the iconic opera singer Maria Callas in the highly anticipated biopic Maria. Not only is she delivering a stellar performance on-screen, but she is also channeling Callas’ timeless style off-screen. At the premiere of the film during the 81st Venice International Film Festival on Thursday, Aug. 29, Jolie stunned on the red carpet in a look that perfectly captured Callas’ legendary Old Hollywood glamour. With every detail meticulously chosen, Jolie’s ensemble paid homage to the elegance and sophistication of the beloved singer.
The actor and director stunned on the Italian red carpet in a custom-made beige gown by Tamara Ralph. The draped dress featured a chiffon train and was paired with a faux-fur wrap adorned with a gold flower brooch. Golden accessories, including a bracelet, ring, and earrings, added to the glamorous look. Jolie completed the ensemble with bold red lips, a glossy manicure, and a dark smoky eye, while her hair was styled in a sleek, side-parted look.
Wearing a gold flower brooch encrusted with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies, the movie star was adorned with a 1972 “Rose Ouvrante” pin from Callas’ jewelry collection. Jolie, who also wears the pin in the film, was charmed by its mechanism that allows the petals to open and close, saying it made her smile with its little secret.
Earlier that day, Jolie wore a gold Cartier Panthère brooch from Callas’s collection, pinned to her black dress. She completed the look with a woven gold bracelet, a matching ring, small gold and diamond earrings, bold red lips, glossy red nails, a dark smoky eye, and straight, side-parted hair.
