For almost 20 years, H&M has been making accessible high fashion by giving customers everywhere the chance to acquire unique designer wears and accessories. The brand has worked with the biggest names in fashion — think Karl Largafield, Simone Rocha and this time H&M brought some heavy superstar power to promote its latest collection with Mugler – creating a lookbook of the line, including models Jerry Hall and Mariacarla Boscono, and holding an explosive runway presentation in New York with models Irina Shayk etc. The collab event went far as to recorded their own take on Stardust’s 1998 dance hit ‘Music Sounds Better With You’, video captured by Lengua, directed by Torso, featuring musicians and models alike, from Amaarae, Acra, Shygirl to Yilan Hua, Imaan Hammam and Aweng Chuoi (watch above).
The Mugler X H&M collection taps into the classic Mugler silhouette and shape — corsets, catsuits, mesh paneling, broad shoulder silhouettes, seductive cutouts, sculptured bodices. “Casey and the Mugler team have been incredibly generous in offering up so many of the house’s classics and signatures, which shoppers will recognize from the runway and red carpet,” H&M Creative Advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson said, in a statement. “The collection encapsulates the H&M ethos of sharing great fashion and democratizing design. Every piece is an icon.”
Paying a tribute to the legendary French fashion designer Thierry Mugler, the collection will mbe made available on May 11th. Thierry Mugler’s iconic silhouettes, inspired by the 1940s and 1950s, have been worn by many famous people, including Beyonce, Rihanna, David Bowie, Diana Ross, and Kim Kardashian.
Cadwallader (appointed as Mugler’s lead in 2018) and Mugler share same values of inclusivity, gender-fluidity, empowerment and body positivity as seen in the collection. His figure-hugging designs, which have been seen by celebrities such as Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid.
