The 2022 Collection From Hanifa Is What True Inclusion Looks Like

Every figure can wear sexy cutouts, textured knits, and red carpet-worthy dresses.

The Hanifa brand is designed with the modern, liberated woman in mind.
Designer Anifa Mvuemba revealed Hanifa’s 2022 collection earlier this week in front of an exclusive audience of other editors, stylists, and creatives during a VIP presentation at The Standard Highline in New York City. The brand’s pre-recorded presentation was sleek and sexual, with an introduction from the designer, and included an incredible assortment of vibrant two-piece sets, voluminous dresses, and sensuous cut-out skirts with barely-there bra tops.

Don’t play with me anymore, Mvuemba joked to the audience as she delivered a succinct speech while wearing a metallic purple Kelly Balloon dress from the most recent collection. The audience responded with rousing applause.

Cheers followed each model as they moved smoothly across the screen. Passionate, proud, and aspirational women who flock toward Mvuemba’s clothing because it is meant to make women feel good are the target market she creates for, and her creations have a way of energizing them. Who wouldn’t feel their utmost best when gliding around the city in a citrus green co-ord or a slinky crimson, curve-hugging evening gown? Or even at their sexiest or most playfully coy? Although she has been creating for more than a decade, Hanifa’s SS22 collection demonstrates how much she has developed as a designer in such a short period of time since her breakthrough virtual fashion show back in 2020.

Her collection is a role model for real size inclusion since it doesn’t need fancy press releases or clever marketing strategies to demonstrate that it is doing the hard job of creating for all women. Models of various shapes and sizes appeared in the runway clip, demonstrating that Mvuemba looks beyond the narrow definition of who is considered attractive in fashion and that authenticity will always win out.
