From the Grammys to dressing Vice President Kamala Harris for the State of the Union address on Tuesday night, Christian Siriano held a 56-look runway show at Gotham Hall in New York.
Each visitor was greeted by a picture of the Audrey Hepburn who played Holly Golightly. Channeling the star’s fondness of nature and its beautiful flowers – the venue was filled with pink, purple, and white roses to drive home the effect. The elaborate floral arrangements that covered the event space—along with the floral-shaped perfume bottles that adorned the seats—set the scene for the dramatic collection, which heavily pulled both the theme of the movie and the actors’ appearance in the iconic Truman Capote story.
Coco Rocha, Siriano’s personal muse, performed her trademark vamping at the beginning and end of the show. She opened the theme in a black and white floral print pantsuit with a wide-brimmed hat that was a tribute to Holly Golightly’s hat. The hat reappeared in fabrics that matched the outfits on most occasions. This was a bold high – fashion style for 2023, yet it kept the equally dramatic and flamboyant styles grounded.
Following were pantsuits with gathered flare legs and cocktail dresses with poof hemlines, the latter paying special respect to another Christian, Lacroix, in floral brocades and jacquards primarily in magenta and black combinations. A body-skimming sheath with a tiered mermaid ruffle, sequin flare hem, or a bustier design with a drop-waist ball skirt, on the other hand, came as imaginative takes on Holly’s black dress. These variations sometimes featured three-dimensional ruffles.
A few outfits stood out for their understated elegance, including a cream one-shoulder blouse with black pants, a reimagined tuxedo jacket with long front panels worn as outerwear with briefs, a sheer tulle off-the-shoulder dress, and a white slinky, draped two-piece halter and skirt look.
Dakota and Ali Lohan wore looks 39 and 9, while Lindsay Lohan sat in the first row with Julia Stiles and Quinta Brunson – a family affair during fashion week.
