If you thought Rihanna’s recent dive to Chanel vintage archives was spectacular then prepare to be marveled. The Party doesn’t start till Riri walks in – the Fenty founder had us wondering if she’d ever show up, it was well worth the wait when she did.

Before hitting the METs at 10 p.m., Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were seen leaving The Carlyle Hotel in outfits that paid homage to the evening’s honoree, Karl Lagerfeld. The silhouette of choice? A Fendi’s fall/winter 1997 ready-to-wear collection designed by Lagerfeld and originally worn on the runway by Naomi Campbell. Making the look her own, Riri paired the coat with diamond necklaces and camellia earrings (another tribute to Karl – the flowery motif was a Coco Chanel’s fave),white pimps and a classic beauty look consisting of white eyeshadow and red lip.
She pulled off an outfit change later and arrived to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in an eye-catching white Maison Valentino gown. She gave the bridal-ready dress a new level of sophistication with a cape made of 500 petals and a voluminous train. As she walked up the steps riri revealed a drop waist to highlight her baby bump.
The rapper, meanwhile, sported an outfit by Gucci that included a high-low red plaid pleated kilt draped over a pair of bejeweled baggy pants, a black blazer, a white collared dress shirt, and baggy jeans. Like Rihanna, his look was also a nod to Lagerfeld as he was known for his long-standing love of Scotland, and wore a similar skirt on the runway of a 2004 Tokyo Chanel show. Rocky added stud earrings, a silver broach to his lapel, a pair of black sunglasses, and steel-tip square-toe boots to his ensemble.
In others word, cheers to a very succesful MET Gala look from Rihanna.
