Timothée Chalamet is accustomed to wearing risqué red carpet attire. Since his first significant promotional tour for his Oscar-nominated love story Call Me by Your Name, the 26-year-old actor has shown off his playful sense of fashion and love for a razor-sharp cut, whether it was the bejeweled Louis Vuitton harness he wore to the 2019 Golden Globes or the satin Prada workwear jacket and Cartier brooch he stepped out in at the 2020 Oscars.

The cannibal romance Bones and All, in which he reteams with Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino, premiered tonight, and Chalamet showed he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Chalamet turned to his favorite designer and close friend Haider Ackermann for a handmade halter jumpsuit, making it his most daring red carpet ensemble to date.

The style, which was made of a lustrous, blood-red fabric, had a wraparound, scarf-like collar for a touch of Studio 54 flair and was cut with torso-side slits to make it virtually fully backless.

Since arriving in Venice, Chalamet has tended to dress more casually, wearing everything from vintage David Bowie t-shirts and Heaven by Marc Jacobs to a look by Hedi Slimane for Celine, another favorite of Chalamet’s, that included a crochet cardigan that was purposefully mismatched, camo shorts, and a T-shirt that paid homage to the British goth rock band Bauhaus.
