Tessa Thompson is defying all fashion conventions and embracing her avant-garde, contemporary sense of style.
The Passing actress appeared to get some style cues from the renowned red carpet of the 79th Venice International Film Festival when visiting the Bardo premiere today. Her eye-catching crimson minidress, which was directly out of the fall/winter 2022 couture collection by Elie Saab, had a long hood that wrapped across her shoulders and around her waist. A spectacular train that gathered around her like a red cloud was also part of the act.
Her accessories, which included matching red tights, high shoes, and a little box purse, complemented her monochromatic look.
The actor has already made a number of memorable appearances at the Venice Film Festival. She arrived in style wearing a sheer patterned Victoria Beckham outfit and accessorizing with a clashing Vivienne Westwood purse and bright red gloves. The next outfit was a black tulle skirt and oversized jacket by Rodarte, both of which were worn with a black bralette underneath.
On Wednesday night, Thompson opted for vintage, wearing an abstract gown from Armani Privé’s 2009 spring/summer couture line. The bottom half of the dress had a silky sheath skirt made of sparkling black fabric, while the top half featured an iridescent silvery strapless bustier that flared out into rippling, structured tiers.
Thompson paired the eye-catching garment with simple Giuseppe Zanotti heels in black. A pair of Matrix-esque shades and Pomellato jewellery – perfectly suited the other-worldly style we’ve seen from the actor in the past.
Since Thompson landed yesterday in Italy for the main film festival, she has caused a fashion stir.
She was seen on camera while riding the ferry over wearing a gold and black Victoria Beckham cami dress and matching turtleneck top with lacey design mesh. She covered herself with a flowing pair of black slacks and a black triangle bralette. She accessorized with a little purse that lacked the brand’s distinctive tartan, Anny Nord slingback heels, and LAPIMA circular sunglasses.
Thompson attended a cocktail reception with Variety later that day while clad in an anti-ballerina ensemble of a frilly black tulle midi skirt, a black jacket with ruffled sleeves, and a black triangle bra. The all-black outfit was featured on the Rodarte autumn 2022 catwalk. She completed the ensemble with extra black accessories, including the large bow in her hair and her traditional heeled heels.
