On June 26, the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles hosted the BET Awards 2022, which was undoubtedly exciting both in terms of fashion and other aspects.
Actor Taraji P. Henson, who has been nominated for an Oscar, presided over the festivities for the second consecutive year. Needless to say, there were a lot of noteworthy moments throughout the event, such when Lotto gave Mariah Carey flowers and Jack Harlow brought Brandy on stage with him (after the embarrassing incident with not knowing she was Ray J’s sister). The recent Roe v. Wade ruling was another major topic of discussion that evening. A number of well-known people, including Taraji P. Henson, Jazmine Sullivan, and Janelle Monae, spoke out against the Supreme Court’s ruling.
This year, Diddy was the honoree of the evening, while other notable awardees were Megan Thee Stallion, Jazmine Sullivan, Silk Sonic, and The Weeknd. The evening’s high-octane performances were its high point, yet style did not suffer. Here are some of the looks at the BET Awards 2022 that you might have missed, including those of Lizzo, Jack Harlow, Chlöe Bailey, and everyone in between.
Tems
With her basic yet seductive black outfit, Tems had us fanning ourselves. A thigh slit and an updo are too irresistible. ICYMI, the Nigerian singer won Best International Artist and Best Collaboration for “Essence” with Wizkid and Justin Bieber.
Lizzo
The “Truth Hurts” rapper shone on the red carpet as usual in a handmade Gucci gown in midnight blue with feathery sleeves. Even the thigh slit on the gown is something we are crazy with. Platform sandals and diamond earrings completed the ensemble.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia dazzled spectators in a Louis Vuitton two-piece ensemble with a red, yellow, and blue cityscape motif. She complemented the ensemble with a septum ring made of gold and diamonds, massive gold rings, and six-inch gold metallic platform shoes.
Jack Harlow
On the red carpet, the “First Class” rapper stole the show in an all-black costume that included a Lil Nax X merchandise t-shirt, trousers, and Givenchy boots. Lil Nax X, who accused the BET Awards of homophobia despite having no nominations, was given the ideal show of support by the elite.
Bruno Mars
The musician arrived on the red carpet late, but when he did, it was in a pair of pink, white, and navy checkered slacks that complemented his later-appearing white hat and navy jacket. Let’s just say that Bruno is continuing Silk Sonic’s long-standing ’70s aesthetic.
Chlöe Bailey
The “Treat Me” singer radiated glitter in a black gown by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran with a one-shoulder sequined bodice.
Halle Bailey
The Little Mermaid star and younger sister of Chloe x Halle debuted on the red carpet wearing a Mônot dress with a plunging neckline. Black open-toe heels and gold jewelry completed the look.
Kiandra Richardson
The singer arrived at the red carpet in a transparent gown with crystal embroidery and a beige feathery hem.
Sean “Diddy” Combs
The evening’s honoree chose a hot pink suit with matching black sunglasses to make a statement on the red carpet.
Giveon
The singer wore orange leather leggings, a cropped black denim jacket, and matching shoes to the red carpet event.
Victoria Monét
In a floor-length, coffee-colored gown with shimmer and a neat, high ponytail, the musician made her BET Awards debut. Her dress included rose appliqués above her bust, giving a variation to an otherwise traditional ensemble.
Daniel Kaluuya
The Academy Award winner never lets down on the red carpet. Daniel arrived wearing a striking Alexander McQueen tie-dye suit in blue and white and a pair of white Air Force 1 sneakers.
Dominique Jackson
The Pose actress undoubtedly attracted everyone’s eye with her technicolor gown.
Coi Leray
Coi Leray decided to go the maximalist route at the BET Awards in an oversized denim blazer, matching mini-skirt, and thigh-high boots.
Saniyya Sidney
At the BET Awards, the young King Richard actor looked stunning in a Giorgio Armani halter minidress in blue, gray, and green. A crystal tennis ball bag and a hairstyle that said “big hair, don’t care” finished off her ensemble. Our favorite.
Ella Mai
The British singer demonstrated that owning a little black dress always pays off. Hers was a Carolina Herrera long-sleeved little dress.
Ari Lennox
In a black bustier dress and open-toed black shoes, the “Pressure” singer joined the list of celebrities who adopted the lace trend that has been popular in 2022.
Janelle Monáe
Janelle was dressed in a flowing black chiffon Roberto Cavalli gown, according to the trend of transparent clothing. The black leather harness with the enormous black rose in the center was our favorite component of the costume. Alexandra Mandelkorn, Janelle’s stylist, posted a photo of the dress on Instagram with the remark, “It’s giving my body, my choice.”
Keke Palmer
The actress arrived to brighten up the red carpet wearing a halter dress with prints from Conner Ives’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection.
Lena Waithe
In her pastel Casablanca suit, the screenwriter served as a gentle reminder that summer is a season for colors.
Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre
Idris Elba wore a white shirt, yellow slacks, and Gucci loafers, and he still looked dashing as always. Sabrina Dhowre, his wife, wore a bandeau top over a white pantsuit. When two people are a good match, they stay together.
Akira Akbar
Akira Akbar, a fellow Bel-Air actor, also made an appearance on the red carpet wearing a gorgeous Dior gown with a flowing, one-shoulder silhouette. Her hair was done in braids, and she added a gold chain to complete the look.
Chance The Rapper
The native of Chicago kept things casual on the red carpet with a cream graphic sweatshirt and a pair of multicolored pants that matched his top, his blue Prada sneakers, and his trademark “3” hat.
Billy Porter
Billy Porter usually provides us with a memorable red carpet moment, and the BET Awards were no exception. The Emmy winner wore a gray Rick Owens outfit with platform boots with metal toes and a high ponytail of braids.
Marsai Martin
The Black-ish actress, 17, looked stunning in a silver shimmering dress embellished with fringe and Swarovski crystals.
Marsai Martin 2.0
Marsai was preparing yet another stunning appearance. She changed into a denim skirt and a gold jacket with decorations. She donned a bustier top, thigh-high boots, and the set.
Taraji P. Henson
We support the show’s host’s choice of a form-fitting, shimmering silver gown by Tom Ford with a single chain strap.
Mary J. Blige
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul arrived dressed in a white two-piece Tony Ward ensemble that had a cropped off-the-shoulder blouse with long sleeves and a high-waisted matching skirt. Another fan favorite thigh slit.
Fireboy DML
The Nigerian Afrobeats musician, who also played his hit song “Peru,” attracted attention with his beige suit, which exposed nothing but silver chains below.
Saucy Santana
According to stylist Law Roach,Saucy donned a green couture outfit by Area. That pair of green footwear was undoubtedly designed for walking – and you may have already seen them on Dua Lipa.
Coco Jones
The Bel-Air actress wore a red two-piece with sparkly open toe stilettos and matching jewelry as her outfit of the day.
