Malia Obama is currently embracing her auteur-filmmaker era, where she is exploring her unique artistic vision and storytelling capabilities. In this pivotal moment of her creative journey, there is no one more fitting to guide her through the redcarpet style than a Vivienne Westwood design.
She attended the 50th Deauville American Film Festival in France to promote her directorial debut, The Heart. The film, had premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and then her redcarpet formula included a grey coat, pale blue button-up, and miniskirt which was paired with a skinny grey knit scarf and knee-high boots.
This time around, the 26-year-old donned a plaid ensemble with a mismatched pattern of red, white, black, and blue from Vivienne Westwood’s autumn/winter 2024 collection by the late designer’s partner, Andreas Kronthaler. She wore a cropped corset with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, paired with a layered skirt. The floor-length column silhouette featured two separate plaid prints, with a blue hue on the shorter fabric and a trailing piece with the red and white pattern.
