Ugandan brand Kai Divo ran by Ugandan designer Kaijuka Abbas recently released a new collection for its Spring/Summer 2021 collection “Hope”.
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”41″ display=”basic_imagebrowser”]The collection titled Hope according to the fashion brand is a celebration of strength – of everyone fighting to end the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, saying: The collection is titled Hope, a celebration of the resilience of every individual who has and still is fighting to end this pandemic. Despite the distress and job losses that came with it, we are still very hopeful that this too shall pass.
Hope collection features clothes that give a sense of joy, tranquility and exuberance. Shown via the brand’s first ever virtual fashion show on Sunday, the virtual presentation aimed at giving viewers a return to nolmancy – while at home, to when it was okay on the red carpet with flashing lights.
The collection makes use of fabrics such as organza, latex leather, tulle. A distinctive feature in the collection is the use of colors: black, yellow and red – which are the national colors of Uganda.
Draped in abstract and impractical ways, the froth gowns creates some sort of fantasy as evidenced in the voluminous shapes and floor-grazing trails.
It can be recalled that the Ugandan fashion designer and CEO Kais Divo Collection – Kaijuka Abbas was named the Best Designer of the Year at the Nigerian-based The MAN Awards back in 2019.
With Hope collection Kaijuka hopes to escape from the gloom and turmoil going on around the world and evoke a lot of positivity and most importantly, hope that this too shall pass.
