Kylie Jenner stole the show at Schiaparelli’s couture catwalk in Paris when she showed up wearing a pre-release from the brand’s Spring-Summer 2023 couture collection that made its premiere moments later and was made of black velvet with a strapless bodice embellished with a life-size lion’s head.
The entire body of Jenner was covered by the incredibly lifelike prosthetic head, which included a perfectly coiffed mane. She completed her look with a pair of black slingbacks by Schiaparelli that had golden embellishments on the toes.
Jenner’s bizarre lion costume was seen on the runway again shortly after she took her seat, along with several other animalistic outfits. The nine circles of hell and Dante’s “Inferno,” which served as a metaphor for the doubt and suffering all artists experience, were the collection’s main sources of inspiration, according to the exhibition notes. Creative director Daniel Roseberry also drew inspiration from these works.
In the collection, Roseberry reinvented the leopard, the lion, and the she-wolf as “representing lust, pride, and avarice, respectively,” taking actual inspiration from the three beasts that figure in the poetry from the 14th century. While Irina Shayk wore a similar look, Naomi Campbell sported a boxy, black faux fur coat with a wolf’s head peeking out from the left shoulder.
This isn’t Jenner’s only appearance at couture fashion week or the only one that reminded many of Disney. At Maison Margiela’s display on Sunday, viewers observed that Jenner somewhat resembled Cinderella. With a blue and gray outfit, Jenner wore silver heels that resembled slippers.
