Victoria & Albert Museum Honors Contemporary African Fashion

Fashion like this defies categorization. African styles are introduced as being beyond description and that creatives can and do select their own paths, according to Victoria & Albert (V&A) curator Christine Checinska. She was in charge of organizing the show as the curator of the museum’s collection of textiles and clothing from Africa and the Diaspora.

The exhibition depicts the history and vitality of the continent’s fashion scene. It showcases designers who are rethinking clothing, patterns and shapes using cutting-Edge tailoring methods.
