Clare Waight Keller Appointed as Uniqlo’s New Creative Director

Uniqlo has appointed British designer Clare Waight Keller as its new creative director, strengthening its collaboration with luxury designers. Waight Keller, known for her work at Givenchy and Chloé, debuted her first collection for Uniqlo last year with the sub-label “Uniqlo: C.”

Alongside the upcoming “Uniqlo: C” line featuring British-inspired pieces, Waight Keller is now tasked with overseeing the new autumn/winter season in New York, ensuring the brand’s continued success and popularity. Waight Keller, herelf has previously worked at Givenchy in 2017 and Chloé emphasizes the importance of change in the fashion industry, particularly luxury. She believes that timeless pieces are the ones that people buy in a big way, and that the learning curve at Uniqlo is significant

Uniqlo’s latest move expands its partnerships with luxury designers, adding to its reputation for affordable basics. Previous collaborations with J.W. Anderson, Jil Sander, Marni, and Christophe Lemaire have been successful. The mix of everyday wear and high-end design has boosted sales, with Fast Retailing predicting record revenue for 2024.
