Anitta, had a memorable night at the AMAs, taking home the prize for Favorite Female Latin Artist. She brought a winning attitude into her dressing for the event and walked the red carpet in a risqué couture Mugler gown that was inspired by actress Carmen Miranda.

The two antique outfits she wore after her conceal-and-reveal Mugler dress captured the fashion crowd’s attention. Anitta appeared on stage with Missy Elliott in a velvet catsuit accessorized with a belt from Tom Ford’s autumn/winter 1995 collection for Gucci that her stylist Ronnie Hart purchased from Tab Vintage.

The sculptural Issey Miyake bustier that Anitta wore to accept her prize was from the late designer’s autumn/winter 1980 collection, and Hart obtained it through Johnny Valencia, the creator of Pechuga Vintage. Valencia posted on Instagram, saying, “This is history.” Meanwhile, Anitta expressed gratitude to her supporters, team, family, and herself while claiming there are “no words to describe [the] experience” of earning an AMA.

Anitta joins the likes of Oliva Wilde, Zendya and Kim kardashian to rock the breastplate fashion trend. Back in January 2020, Zendaya made headlines when she appeared at the Critics’ Choice Awards with a sculpted hot-pink breastplate by Tom Ford. According to British Vogue Zendaya talked about how the designer’s crew visited her home to “scan [her] boobs” in order to create the stunning appearance. The star also wore Loewe’s gold breastplate dress from spring/summer 2023 to the Women In Film Awards in LA the following year (again, a wise decision).
