Taylor Russell and Alexa Demie, two of the hottest red carpet stars right now, collaborated on the red carpet this week. Russell, who recently finished her Bones and All press tour, is one of Hollywood’s bravest new risk-takers and a fan of chic Loewe, Schiaparelli, and Tom Ford-era Gucci garments. Demie, on the other hand, regularly dons glamorous Balenciaga and vintage clothing which often comes in black – her favorite colour. Although each actor has a different dress sense, they both demonstrated last night at the Moet & Chandon Christmas gala in New York City that they go together like a pair made in heaven.
Both fashion icons chose sculptural, sleek black outfits. Demie chose a corset-like suit from Alaïa’spring/summer 1992 collection to channel retro flair. The wasp-waist gave the squared neckline and peaks of white lace a charming, yet fresh, feel. Russell, on the other hand, opted for a more futuristic outfit from Schiaparelli’s spring/summer 2022 couture line. The spherical piping on her garment reminded me of Saturn’s rings. Both celebrities clasped hands on the carpet while donning black pointed shoes by Christian Louboutin for a moment of matchy-matchiness.
