We are happy to report that the Bridgerton frenzy has continued following a successful Season 2.

In Shonda Rhimes’ much anticipated Bridgerton prequel, Netflix has officially revealed the cast members who will represent the characters’ younger selves. The spin-off centered on the queen, officially titled Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, will star actress India Amarteifio as the youthful Queen Charlotte, the streamer said.

Golda Rosheuvel, who plays the older queen from the first series, co-stars with the actress in the film. A”Betrothed to the mysterious King of England against her will, Charlotte arrives in London only to realize she was not exactly what the royals were expecting. As she learns to navigate the palace, the ‘ton and her unpredictable husband, she grows into one of Europe’s most unforgettable monarchs,” young Charlotte’s character description reads on Netflix.

What is the prequel series about?

Along with King George III and Prince Frederick of Prussia, the monarch, who was portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel in Bridgerton, is one of the few historical individuals included in the show. Bela Bajaria, head of global TV for Netflix, said in a statement, via Deadline, “Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton.”

“Under the thumb of a much older husband, Agatha uses Charlotte’s arrival to find her own way into society. With keen knowledge of the once divided social scene and the intricacies of marriage, Agatha becomes a guiding light for the new Queen, all while finding her own voice and power we’ll soon recognize as ‘Bridgerton’s’ iconic Lady Danbury,” Agatha’s character description reads.

Young Lady Danbury’s and Violet Bridgerton’s prequels will also be highlighted in the prequel spinoff. Violet Bridgerton’s prequel was also briefly mentioned in Julia Quinn’s second epilogue from The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After, “Violet in Bloom.”

There will apparently be a quick expansion of the Bridgerton world in Regency-era London, which is fully self-contained. We now have the chance to commit even more of the Shondaland fold to the Bridgerton-verse, as we continue to build the universe of Bridgerton, added Rhimes. “We’ve worked with Jess Brownell for over a decade and have long wanted to find the right project to place in her hands. When it came time to pass the baton, I knew this unique voice was vital to the future of the show.”.

Who else is in the cast?

India Amarteifio will play the title character, and Corey Mylchreest from Sandman will play the “handsome, charismatic,” and somewhat mysterious young King George III. The streamer also said that Arsema Thomas will make her TV debut as the young Agatha Danbury. In addition, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Sam Clemmett as the young Brimsley, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, and Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury have all been cast in the prequel.

Fans will also see Freddie Dennis (The Nevers) as Reynolds, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher) as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualty) as the Royal Doctor, and Cyril Nri (Cucumber) as Lord Danbury.

When will it debut?

The prequel series’ premiere date has not yet been made public.
