Netflix has quickly established itself as a powerhouse for Korean reality programming, with global hits like Single’s Inferno, Culinary Class Wars, and Physical: 100. But one show has captured both praise and scrutiny in equal measure: The Devil’s Plan, the streamer’s ultimate test of wits.

Launched in 2023, the first season brought together celebrities and everyday people in a brutal, brain‑twisting competition for a grand prize of up to 500 million won. Its second season premiered in May 2025, introducing bold new gameplay mechanics that divided its dedicated audience. The result? A controversial victory for Jeong Hyun‑gyu, who walked away with 380 million won ($277,000), leaving many fans clamoring for a reset.

With the dust now settled, here’s everything we know about the possibility of a Devil’s Plan Season 3.

Has ‘The Devil’s Plan’ Been Renewed for Season 3?
As of now, Netflix has not announced a renewal for The Devil’s Plan. The streamer is notoriously cautious when it comes to green‑lighting even its biggest titles — for example, Physical: 100 received its second season order months after its breakout debut.

That said, the numbers seem promising. The second season dominated Netflix’s Top 10 in South Korea throughout its run and landed in the Global Non‑English Top 10 upon release, making a strong case for a comeback.

When Could Season 3 Arrive?
If the series maintains its current timeline, expect a long wait. The first season premiered in September 2023, followed by Season 2 in May 2025. At this rate, a potential third season could land sometime in 2027.

What the Creators Are Saying
Series creator and producer Jeong Jong‑yeon has expressed interest in returning for Season 3 — but with a twist. Speaking to The Korea Herald, Jeong revealed:

“There have been a lot of responses saying, ‘I’m not looking forward to Season 3,’” he said. “But if even one person is looking forward to it, I’d like to do Season 3. Even if Devil’s Plan 3 is greenlit, I’ve been thinking about completely changing the structure. While maintaining the core concept of a brain‑based social survival game, I’d like to try new formats — or possibly even release it under a completely different title.”

He doubled down on the sentiment in an interview with Chosun Biz, stating:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to learn every time I make something. When planning The Devil’s Plan from the beginning, I intended to introduce a different format for every season. I’ve been listening closely to your feedback. If Season 3 happens, I clearly want to show a better version. This evaluation has been an important learning experience for me.”

What’s Next for ‘The Devil’s Plan’?
With strong ratings, a passionate international fan base, and a creator open to bold reinvention, The Devil’s Plan Season 3 may yet find its way onto screens — and when it does, it’s sure to arrive with higher stakes, deeper strategy, and a fresh twist that redefines the brain‑game genre.
