Since his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 with his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry has been vocal about the family conflicts that led to his well-known exit from the royal family in 2020. He will soon elaborate on the story in a forthcoming tell-all memoir, which is expected to irreparably alter popular perception of the royal family.

According to a press release from July, Harry’s memoir will be a “definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him”—from his early years as a member of the royal family and military service to the trauma of losing his mother and his newly discovered joy as a husband and father. Throughout the book, there are descriptions of previously undisclosed truth bombs about the British royal family, the specifics of which will be explosive.

When will the memoir be made available?

The official release date for the book is January 10, 2023. It will be made available in print and digital versions at the same time.

The book was originally scheduled to be released in the fall of 2022, but owing to last-minute worries over the appropriateness of some content, that date was postponed. After his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II passed away, Harry reportedly worked at the last minute to modify some passages and was concerned about the poignancy of some content.

What exactly will the memoir content be?

Several leaked snippets from Harry’s memoir that were published this week by various sites indicate that he is not being coy. He opens up about his strained relationship with his father, King Charles III, and brother, Prince William. He also discusses his headcount while serving in the British Army, how he handled the death of his mother, Princess Diana, a spat between Duchess Meghan and Princess Kate, and even discusses losing his virginity.

A new chapter honoring the late Queen Elizabeth has been included to the biography, along with details about how Harry and Meghan “were snubbed,” as per Bower.

How much money is Prince Harry expected to make from the book deal?

So according to Page Six, Harry’s publisher, Penguin Random House, has already paid him “at least $20 million upfront.” However, the outlet stated, the full memoir’s earnings would purportedly be donated to good causes.

How has the news been received by Prince Harry’s royal network?

The prince’s relatives and former associates are anxious about the memoir’s impending publication. The royal family has been “hugely worried,” according to Bower, over what would be revealed in the biography.

However, the army and old Eton buddies have also voiced their worries. According to one pal who spoke to the Daily Mail, “There is a fear that he’s going to reveal details of his hedonistic youth, which some worry will play havoc with their careers and personal lives.”

A source told The Sun, “Harry and Meghan’s former staff members are convinced that this book is being written to settle scores and will likely include a lot of detail about their time within the royal family.”

“Based on the Oprah Winfrey interview, some of these ex-workers simply do not trust that a full and accurate picture will be presented. Conversations have already started about what steps they might be able to take to protect their own reputation and that of the monarchy post-publication.”

What is Prince Harry’s personal opinion on the book?

According to the prince, releasing the memoir was done with the intention of showing his humanity.

In a personal statement released in July, he said “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.”

Adding , “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”
