The first three episodes of the Netflix docuseries starring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were made available last week Thursday, and there were a few surprising twists.

In their new Netflix docuseries, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle provided viewers an intimate glimpse at their love story as well as their life before and after giving up their jobs as working royals. The final three episodes of “Harry & Meghan” will be made available in Volume II on December 15 after Volume I of the series was shown on the streaming platform on Thursday.

The pair discussed everything from their early courting to their ties with royal ancestors. They claimed to have met in July 2016 after going on a blind date.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are alleged to have connected over Instagram.

It was widely speculated that the pair met in 2016 through shared friends before “Harry & Meghan” debuted on Netflix. That is how they first started dating, Meghan previously revealed to the BBC. However, Harry made it clear in the first episode of the documentary series that there was more to the tale; they had been communicating on social media.

When Harry watched a video of Meghan with the puppy-dog filter posted to a friend’s account, he claimed to have been skimming through his newsfeed. “That was the first thing, I was like, ‘Who is that?'” said the Duke of Sussex. Soon after, Meghan claims their common acquaintance informed her that “Prince Haz” had inquired about her, which prompted them to go on their first date at London’s Soho House.

Prince Harry had earlier plans to pop the question to Meghan Markle.

When asked to describe their engagement during an interview at the end of the second episode of the show. Harry proposed to Meghan in November 2017 when they were preparing a roast chicken meal at home in the UK, as Insider previously reported. The late Queen Elizabeth II had to give her consent, so Harry said in the docuseries that he would’ve preferred to drop down on one knee “earlier” and had even considered popping the question abroad.

Being one of the six closest to the throne, Harry was required to follow an old British rule that said he needed the sovereign’s consent to be married.

Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mom, claimed that the moment she met Harry, she knew he was “the one.”

Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, made her opinions about the pair public for the first time since they started dating. In the second episode of the docuseries, Ragland, who refers to herself as “Meghan’s mom,” recalls getting a phone from her daughter saying, “Mommy, I’m going out with Prince Harry.”

Ragland claimed that when Harry was first presented to her, she thought he was tall and attractive. “He was just like six one, handsome man with red hair,” she said. “Really great manners. He was just really nice.” Ragland claimed that she believed that Harry was the one since he and Meghan appeared to be so happy together.

Archie Mountbatten Windsor, Harry and Meghan’s kid, has an American accent.

Additionally in episode two, viewers get a look of the couple’s lives as parents to their children, Lilibet and Archie, whom they are rearing in their Montecito, California, home.

Archie, 3, can be seen in video footage exploring the outdoors with his father while they observe birds and farm animals. And it turns out that Archie has an American accent, much as Meghan does when she speaks.

Harry and Archie are seen admiring a hummingbird when Archie comments, “I got a dirty foot mama,” in a touching father-and-son exchange that Meghan appears to have recorded.

Meghan claimed that Canadian neighbors were hired by photographers to livestream her in her backyard.

In 2016, Harry and Meghan made their romance official. Meghan said that she continued to work on “Suits” in Canada in an interview for the second episode of the documentary series. She claimed that shortly after the pair made their connection known, the whole UK media “descended” on Toronto, where she was living.

Meghan said that the paparazzi not only “encircled” her private house in Canada frequently, but even went so far as to hire some neighbors to put cameras there. According to Megan “They had paid certain neighbors to put a live stream into my backyard.” “Suddenly it felt like my life just got so much more insular.”

Although she is good friends with Samantha Markle’s biological daughter, Meghan says she was unable to invite her to her wedding.

The biological daughter of Meghan’s estranged sister, Ashleigh Hale, was the subject of a revelation by Meghan in the third episode of the docuseries.

Samantha Markle, Meghan’s estranged half-sister, has been publicly critical of the duchess since she began dating Prince Harry in 2016. The diary of Princess Pushy’s sister, a book about Meghan written by Samantha, was released in February 2021.

Hale says she and Meghan became close when she reunited with Samantha in 2007. Hale was reared by her paternal grandparents. She referred to Meghan as her “best friend,” but said that their bond also has maternal and sisterly overtones. Meghan said, however, that she had been persuaded not to invite Hale to her wedding in 2018 because it would have been hard to explain to the media why she was going and Samantha wasn’t. Meghan described the incident as “painful.”

One of Harry’s worst blunders in life, he claimed, was dressing up in a Nazi outfit.

Harry and Meghan’s third episode included Prince Harry reflecting on one of his biggest controversies.

UK tabloids published pictures of Harry when he was 20 years old attending a party while dressed in a Nazi outfit. The tale was initially reported by The Sun on January 14, 2005, with the headline “Harry the Nazi” and a picture of Harry wearing the outfit. At the time, Harry faced harsh criticism. Harry’s outfit, according to a Board of Deputies of British Jews representative, “was clearly in bad taste, especially in the run-up to Holocaust Memorial Day,” which was observed on January 27, according to The Sun.

Harry claimed in the docuseries that donning the outfit was “one of the biggest mistakes in my life.”  “I felt so ashamed afterwards,” he said. “All I wanted to do was make it right.”

In Berlin, Harry claimed to have spoken with a Holocaust survivor and the Chief Rabbi of London about what he had learnt from the event. “I could have just ignored it and gone on and made the same mistakes in my life, but I learned from that,” Harry said. Five months later, Harry joined the British Royal Army. He attributed his ten years in the service with giving him a strong work ethic ” I lived experience that other members of my family wouldn’t have.”

“Two tours in Afghanistan, flying Apache helicopters on a military base, means that you grow up pretty fast. The people that I met, and the lifelong friends made — that was my second family.”

Meghan said that since she was biracial, she wouldn’t be cast in Hollywood roles.

In the second episode, Meghan talked openly about her difficulties breaking into Hollywood, admitting that being biracial caused her to be turned down for parts “all the time.” “It is very, very hard on your confidence to be an auditioning actor, especially when you don’t fit into any box,” she said. “It triggers the same stuff for me when I was a kid, it’s like where do I fit in?”

Former agent Nick Collins said that Meghan’s skin tone made it difficult to cast her in some projects. “I don’t even actually remember the point at which I found out she was biracial,” he said. “Once I found out, I would send her out for Black roles. But sometimes I would pitch her for those roles and the casting director would be like ‘What do you mean?’ and I’d be like ‘Well she’s biracial, her mom’s black,’ and they’d say, ‘No, she doesn’t look it.'”

But Markle persisted in pursuing her desire to be on a TV program, and in 2011 she was offered the part of Rachel Zane in the series “Suits.” “Rachel Zane was really in some ways, one of the first representations I’d seen of a real identified, biracial woman,” Collins said. “You know, seeing her family and how it fits together.”

Meghan, however, claimed that the royal family had a problem with her work. “The actress thing was the biggest problem, funny enough,” she continued. “There was a big idea of what that looks like from the UK standpoint. Hollywood, it’s very easy for them to typecast that.”

Meghan claimed that when Harry unexpectedly opened a bottle of Champagne as she was preparing a chicken for dinner, she knew he was about to pop the question.

Harry and Meghan talked about the evening in November 2017 when the prince proposed to them on one knee in episode two.

Meghan also said that Harry revealed the surprise by opening a bottle of Champagne before to dinner.

“I did pop a bottle of Champagne while she was greasing the chicken, and that kind of slightly gave the game away,” Harry said. “She was like, ‘you don’t drink Champagne, what’s the occasion?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know. Just had it laying around here, whatever.'”

“It was a magnum,” Meghan laughed as she recalled. Harry claimed to have used 15 electric candles to light Kensington Palace’s north garden.

“He’s down on one knee and I was just like, ‘Yes!’ I was so joyful and excited,” Meghan recalled. “I was like ‘Ah, we’re doing this.’ “From my perspective, I fell head over heels in love with her because my heart told me that she was the one that I was gonna spend the rest of my life with,” Harry said. “When it came to Meghan, that was, I guess, the case of finding a needle in a haystack.”

According to Meghan and Harry, penguins mate for life, therefore they wore onesies to their engagement party.

The pair had a covert engagement party soon after Harry went down on one knee.

Harry and Meghan wanted to celebrate the significant event before it was made public, according to Lucy Fraser, one of Meghan’s pals who appeared in the documentary.

“They were so happy and they were gonna keep it quiet because it was gonna be announced a few weeks later,” she said. “We had a little engagement party and everyone was dressed in animal onesies.” Fraser said Meghan and Harry wore matching penguin onesies “because penguins mate for life.”

Doria Ragland slammed Thomas Markle after claims that he received money to fabricate paparazzi photos.

The drama that surrounded their wedding day after allegations that Thomas Markle, Meghan’s father, had been manipulating photos for UK newspapers is discussed by the pair in the third episode of “Harry and Meghan.” “It’s amazing what people will do when offered a huge amount of money,” Harry said. “Fifty thousand, a hundred thousand, to hand over photographs, to create a story. And thank god most of them said no.”

Meghan said that after learning the article will appear the following day, she phoned her father to find out whether it was real. She said that while Thomas disputed the accusations, he turned down her and Harry’s offers to assist him leave Mexico, where he currently resides, before the media descended on his home. “I was like, ‘We’ll just come and get you a day early, we’ll get you out of Mexico.’ And he said, ‘No, no, I have things to do.’ And it felt really cagey. I was like, ‘It doesn’t make sense.’ And when we hung up, I looked at H and I was like, ‘I don’t know why, but I don’t believe him.'”

Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is also Thomas’ ex-wife, said she was “absolutely stunned that Tom would become part of this circus.”

“I felt sad that the media would run with this,” she said. “That he would capitalize. Certainly as a parent it’s not… that’s not what you do. That’s not parenting.”

If Meghan weren’t with him, “her dad would still be her dad,” according to Harry.

As news of the staged images spread days before their wedding, Meghan said she phoned her father more than 20 times. But according to her, he never called her back. She said he spoke to TMZ instead. She continued by expressing her horror upon learning that dad had suffered a heart attack.

“The unraveling happened that week when he wouldn’t pick up my call,” Meghan said. “And instead you’re talking to TMZ. And I’m finding out that you’re not coming to our wedding through a tabloid.”

A text message from Meghan to Thomas was shown on screen during the documentary. It said: Please can I ask that you stop talking to the press… You haven’t returned any of our 20+ calls since we all spoke on Saturday morning; which only adds to the hurt you’ve been causing. We aren’t angry but we do really need to speak to u. Love M and H.”

After then, according to Meghan, his phone sent her a weird text that stated, “I’ve done nothing to hurt you Meghan, or anyone else I know nothing about 20 phone calls I’m sorry my heart attack is there any inconvenience for you [sic].”

At that time, Meghan claimed she realized her father’s phone had been hijacked. “It was really weird, you know how people text right?” she continued. “My dad used a lot of emojis and ellipses and dot, dot, dot, and this was just the opposite. And it called me Meghan. I was like, ‘He’s never called me Meghan any day I’ve lived on this planet.’ Meg, all my friends call me Meg and my parents call me Meg.”

What transpired between Meghan and Thomas, in Harry’s words, was “incredibly sad.” “She had a father before this. And now she doesn’t have a father,” Harry said. “And I shouldered that, because if Meg wasn’t with me then her dad would still be her dad.”
