After almost two years of dating, Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles announced on Friday night that they were taking a break. Sources told more media outlets over the weekend what actually happened and when the split actually occurred. Although Wilde and Styles were spotted out together a week ago, a source informed Entertainment Tonight that they had already quietly agreed to put their relationship on hold.
“They made the decision to call it quits a few weeks ago but they really do love spending time together,” the source said. “He’s gearing up for the international leg of his tour next week, so this was a fitting time to go their separate ways.”
“He’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A.,” one of the People sources explained, giving the world an immediate bit of insight into the reasons behind the pair’s breakup/break/conscious uncoupling. “It’s a very amicable decision.” “He’s still touring and is now going abroad,” a source told the outlet of the reasoning. “She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A. Another insider – or perhaps the same one—who knows when everyone dishing out celeb gossip is forever nameless who talked to Page Six about the divorce shared this view, saying that “yes they’re broken up but still on good terms.”
“There is no bad blood between them. Harry didn’t dump Olivia, or vice versa,” the source said, adding (seemingly as proof of how close the former couple still is?) that the relationship—which lasted almost two years—is “the longest relationship Harry’s ever had, so clearly they have a special bond.”
According to the source, it was simpler for them to spend time together and maintain their “tight relationship” when they were working on Don’t Worry Darling. However, following that, it became more difficult for them to maintain their relationship due to the distance imposed by their separate family situations and occupations (Wilde in cinema, whilst Styles is primarily a musician with a continuous tour).
“They’re on a break,” the source said. “It’s impossible to have a relationship when he’s in every continent next year and Olivia has her job and her kids [Otis, 8, and Daisy, 6, with her ex Jason Sudeikis]. This is the right thing for both of them.” The source noted of last week’s Wilde-Styles sighting, “they’re friends, you’ll still see them together.”
