Lady Gaga did not return to the Beverly Hilton for this year’s Golden Globes.
In recognition of the Top Gun: Maverick song she produced with co-writer BloodPop, the pop sensation received a nomination for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture. The pair joined a stellar group of nominees that also featured Rihanna and Taylor Swift, but the multi-hyphenate appears to have skipped the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards because she was not seen on the red carpet or among the attendees. In the end, Kala Bhairava, M.M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj won for “Naatu Naatu” from the movie RRR, winning Best Original Song.
Despite keeping a quiet profile recently, Gaga expressed her gratitude for the 2023 Grammy nominations for the song “Born This Way.” “I am so honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys for ‘Hold My Hand’ and the Top Gun: Maverick Soundtrack with my fellow composers,” she wrote. “It’s a real dream to be included in this celebration of music with a song and musical theme so close to my heart thank you ❤️ I fully cried, this never gets old and I’m super humbled.”
On the red carpet, Wednesday actor Jenna Ortega raved about her recreation of the Netflix series’ popular TikTok dance, set to Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary,” even though the pop queen provided no explanation for skipping tonight’s Golden Globes. According to Variety, the actress even speculated about the pop artist playing a cameo role on Wednesday’s second season.
