Supermodel Gisele Bündchen and National Football League quarterback Tom Brady have been involved in a passionate relationship for more than ten years.
In their nearly 13 years of marriage, Brady and Bündchen, who have been together since 2007, have established a close-knit family while openly and publicly supporting one another in both their professional and personal activities. For better or worse, though, Bündchen has continuously made significant personal sacrifices over the years in support of her quarterback husband’s football profession, making their relationship for a long time tethered to Brady’s engagement with the NFL.

The supermodel may be seen sans her wedding band in paparazzi photos of Bündchen out and about in Miami that were released by Entertainment Tonight. She went out in public with her children, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, nine, who were with her. She can be seen in the picture sporting a white tank top and a pair of gray sweatpants.
“Rumblings of marital issues between Tom and Gisele began towards the end of the summer, and more recently, things have gotten worse and more serious,” a source told ET. “They haven’t been in a good place. Gisele feels like Tom has chosen his career over his family and she is tired of it. She also has her own dreams and aspirations and doesn’t want to have to keep putting her goals on hold. They are weighing their options for their future as a family and thinking about what next steps might look like.”
The appearance of Bündchen sans her wedding ring, coincides with rising rumors that her and Brady are divorcing.
October 4, 2022: Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady purportedly employ divorce lawyers.
Page Six sources confirm that the two have hired divorce attorneys in response to many publications indicating major relationship rifts. “I don’t think there will be any coming back now,” a source tells the outlet. “They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”
In light of the fact that both parents have been deeply involved in their children’s lives, it is likely that the two will share joint custody of their son and daughter.
September 16, 2022: Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady spend some time apart.
According to reports, the couple takes a six-week break from one another to work through relationship issues that were exacerbated by Brady’s return to the NFL.
“There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids,” an insider tells Page Six. “They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind.”
“Gisele is busy with her own life now, and has spent time away from Tom in Miami and New York,” a source tells People.
September 14, 2022: Brady retires to concentrate on his marriage and family responsibilities.
In order to “smooth things over” with Bündchen, who has been vocally unhappy with Brady’s un-retirement from the NFL for the toll it has had on their family life, the famous athlete is apparently retiring once again following his 23rd season.
Brady knows that “this is his last season if he wants to stay married,” a source close to People said, adding, “She doesn’t hate that he’s playing football, but she sure hates the way he handled the retirement and coming back.”
The insider goes on to say,
“All he can do is make this season count, spend time with his family whenever he can, and then retire at the end of the season.”
“From a family standpoint, these are critical years,” another insider tells People. “The kids are getting older, Ben is 12 now, and Gisele feels like Tom needs to be home.”
September 13, 2022: Brady’s return to the NFL is the subject of fresh worries from Bündchen.
The supermodel opens up about her concerns over Brady’s un-retirement in an interview with the October issue of ELLE, after originally publicly endorsing the choice. She discusses her views on the sexism implied in some stories stating excessively selfish motivations for her eventual desire for Brady’s retirement as well as the necessity for her and Brady to pull back from their professional and personal life to focus on their children in the interview.
“Obviously, I have my concerns—this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” According to Bündchen, she also claims that she genuinely cares about his happiness and encourages him to pursue his ultimate goals. “I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them],” she adds. “He needs to follow his joy, too.”
Her main worries are with establishing a more balanced give-and-take in their relationship.
“I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom],” Bündchen says. “I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams.”
She adds, “I’m so grateful to have been there in those moments that were really shaping who they are as people,” and later says, “I feel very fulfilled in that way, as a mother and as a wife.”
March 13, 2022: Brady comes out of retirement with initially positive support from Bündchen.
The quarterback reneges on his decision to resign from the sport and says he will be joining the NFL again shortly after his widely shared farewell post. “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” he writes on Twitter. “That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”
At the time, Bündchen responded to this by saying, “Here we go again! Let’s go lovvvey! Let’s go Bucs!”
However, despite cheering for Brady online, Bündchen was eventually discovered to have missed the opening game of the season in September. Her absence comes after Brady missed training for 11 days earlier in August, which sparked suspicions of a possible new romantic rift.
February 1, 2022: Tom Brady makes an NFL retirement announcement.
In a message shared to Instagram, Brady announces the huge news that he has decided to retire from the NFL after 22 seasons. Stating in a statement published to Instagram that he is “not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,” and adding, “It is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”
Later, Bündchen posts a carousel of images from the athlete’s career highlights to Instagram along with a loving message to him. “What a ride @tombrady ! So many memories!” she writes on the post. “When I met you over 15 years ago, I didn’t know the first thing about football. But cheering for you and seeing you do what you love most made me learn about this wonderful game to the point that I seriously believed I knew more than the referees! The athlete thanks his wife for her steadfast support and enormous personal sacrifice in an edition of his Let Go! podcast. She “holds down the house” for their family.
“I think there’s things that she wants to accomplish,” Brady says in the episode. “She hasn’t worked as much in the last 10, 12 years—just raising our family and kind of committing to being in a life in Boston, and then moving to Florida.”
February 14, 2020: Their nickname for one another is “forever Valentine.”
On Valentine’s Day, the two share sincere, adoring postings on social media to honor one another. On Twitter, the athlete posts a cute photo of the couple wearing cuddly attire. He writes, “My eternal Valentine.”

The Brazilian beauty seems to be doing well with the chilly weather in New England while helping her sporty spouse. Brady travels with Bündchen to the Los Angeles Hollywood for Science Gala in 2019 to support her environmental advocacy. “She’s inspiring me in so many ways,” Brady says at the event. “It’s really special for her, and I love that she’s here celebrating.”
April 8, 2018: Brady talks openly about his difficulties with Bündchen.
After keeping a low profile for several years, the quarterback opens up to Howard Stern on his SiriusXM program about his troubles with Bündchen, saying that her discontent with his participation (or lack thereof) in some family concerns has evolved into a motif in their marriage.
“A couple of years ago, she didn’t feel like I was doing my part for the family,” the quarterback says. “She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then all of a sudden when the season ended, I’d be like, ‘Great, let me get into all of my other business activities. Let me get into my football training,’ and she’s sitting there going, ‘Well when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?'”
Brady continues by saying that Bündchen’s worries served as a crucial wake-up call for him. “I had to, like, check myself because she was like, ‘I have goals and dreams too.'”
September 2015: They deny reports of a divorce.
In the wake of the “Deflategate” controversy, in which Brady was accused of cheating to give the New England Patriots the victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the 2014 AFC Championship game in January 2015, Brady dispels rumors that he and Bündchen have been experiencing tension in their relationship (and may be headed for a divorce).
“We’re in a great place, I’ll just say that,” Brady says on the Boston radio station, WEEI. “I’m a lucky man. I’ve been very blessed with support from my family and certainly her, and there’s no bigger supporter that I have than her and vice versa. I’ve been very blessed to have an incredible relationship with my life partner, and I don’t think anything will ever get in the way of that.”
A source confirms to People that he and Bündchen have been “living their life” and “doing great,” and adds that “[Bündchen is] being a supportive wife—just like anybody whose husband would be going through something like this.”, which is in line with Brady’s assertions.
December 5, 2012: They welcome their second child.
Vivian Lake Brady, Bündchen’s second child and first daughter, is born. “We feel so lucky to have been able to experience the miracle of birth once again and are forever grateful for the opportunity to be the parents of another little angel,” the supermodel writes on her Facebook page.
Brady tells USA Today that having their first kid at home was a “wonderful experience in [his] life” in which he admittedly “didn’t get much sleep.”
“Me being there with G at his birth in our home, it lives in my mind,” Brady also says in an episode of ESPN+’s Man in the Arena series. “I think we brought this boy into the world in the most precious way.”
February 26, 2009: Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady get married.
The couple exchanges vows in a private ceremony at St. Monica Catholic Church in California just one month after becoming engaged. A second ceremony is then held in April at Bündchen’s private home in Costa Rica.
In a post honoring their ninth anniversary, Bündchen first makes pictures from the wedding ceremony public.

Due to a blind date arranged by their mutual friends, the two first meet. “I think the one phone call that changed my life was my friend Ed, who called me one day and he said, ‘I have this girl and I think you should call her,'” In a subsequent interview for the Men’s Fall Fashion Issue of WSJ.
