This week, Taylor Swift went out with her longtime partner in anticipation of the release of her highly anticipated album.
On Monday, she and Joe Alwyn were spotted on a stroll in New York City. With a pink and blue checkered miniskirt, black tights, and an oversized black sweater, the singer gave the preppy style her own unique touch. She donned her trademark red lip and rose-colored cosmetics and had a brown shoulder bag.
With contrast, the actor from Conversations with Friends looked casual in a green sweater, loose blue trousers, and black sneakers. He walked with Swift, carrying a notepad and black-rimmed glasses.
Swift can be seen grinning broadly and conversing with her beau in photographs shot of the two when they were out for a stroll. Their rare public appearance comes only days after Swift revealed that her new song “Lavender Haze” off her upcoming Midnights album is about her romance with Alwyn.
In a clip on Instagram, Swift said, “I happened upon the phrase lavender haze when I was watching Mad Men, and I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool. And it turns out that it’s a common phrase used in the ’50s, where they would just describe being in love.”
She explained further, “If you were in the lavender haze, then that meant that you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful.
The singer continued by saying that many individuals today have to cope with criticism of their relationships as a result of social media. Of course, she and Alwyn are hardly an exception.
“Like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it,” Swift said. “And so, this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”
Swift’s 2019 album, Lover, was a tribute to her partner, irrespective of the fact that she seldom addresses their personal lives (And we understand). Although there have been rumors of an engagement since the two started dating in 2016, neither party has acknowledged anything.
The album’s opening track, “Lavender Haze,” will be available this coming Friday, October 21.
