Happy birthday, Princess Kate! Catherine, Princess of Wales, turned 41 years old yesterday, January 9. To commemorate the event, Buckingham Palace posted a picture of the queen, who was smiling and gorgeous in a red coat as she accepted flowers from a young girl.
“Wishing The Princess of Wales a very Happy Birthday today!” the palace captioned the post.
As the day coincides during a turbulent moment for the royal family owing to Prince Harry’s book, Spare, it is uncertain how Kate, Prince William, and their three children would celebrate. In the days preceding the publication of his book, the Duke of Sussex sat down for a number of tell-all interviews. He was honest about his relationships with King Charles, Queen Camilla, William, and Kate, as well as the manner the Waleses handled Duchess Meghan when she wed Harry.
Harry discusses the widely reported conflict between Kate and Meghan in interviews with ITV and CBS’s 60 Minutes. He claims that the institution set up the duchesses against one another from the outset, making it difficult for one to succeed without tarnishing the reputation of the other. He claims that the way each royal family’s communications departments operate, namely the smear campaigns that take place behind the scenes, is largely to blame for this.
When Harry married Meghan, he had anticipated that they would make a wonderful, easy team with Kate and Will, but “very quickly it became Meghan vs Kate,” he remarked in an interview with ITV broadcaster Tom Bradby.
