Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially finalized their divorce, bringing an end to a tumultuous chapter in their lives. After enduring eight grueling years of contentious legal disputes, the couple faced numerous challenges as they navigated the complexities of child custody arrangements, the division of property, and financial matters. Their separation has not only been marked by personal struggles but has also captured significant media attention, highlighting the intense scrutiny that public figures often face during such a difficult time.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer James Simon said in a statement to CNN on Monday. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met while filming the 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, during Pitt’s marriage to Jennifer Aniston. After divorcing Aniston, Pitt began dating Jolie. In 2005, he joined her in Ethiopia to adopt their daughter Zahara, now 19. Jolie was already a mother to Maddox, now 23. The couple had a biological daughter, Shiloh, in 2006, adopted Pax, now 21, and later had fraternal twins Knox and Vivienne, who are now 16. They married in 2014 at their winery in France, but Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.

Over time, details of their separation have surfaced, including an alleged violent incident involving Pitt on a private plane. While both have largely remained silent about the divorce, Jolie revealed in a rare interview last year that she faced significant physical stress during the separation, including Bell’s palsy, which she linked to the emotional strain.
